In today’s popular music it seems the vocals never stop. There’s never a moment where we don’t hear a voice singing, talking, rapping, screaming, yelling, etc… I don’t know who started this or why but it needs to stop. I’m sure you could list a slew of songs to counter what I’m saying; but I have a point.

Aside from the music itself, notation is key to getting others to enjoy your music. To do so a songwriter and/or composer must make the notation as clear as possible. Also if you want your creation to be played correctly it’s best if your intentions are make sense.
In addition to standard articulations such as Marcato and Staccatissmo the ...

I once got asked “How can I start playing like Jimmy Page?” As specific as this question is I was able to broadened the subject to make it more relateable: “How can I play lightning fast?”.
The simple solution: practice.
The expanded solution: Practice really, really, really slow.
Additional Materials Needed: Metronome.
Now why on earth would you want to practice something slow when you are trying to play it fast? It turns out this technique is actually derived from martial arts. The greatest martial artists practice their moves as slow ...
